Special Notes: Map marker shows the river location. Closed all year from power line crossing at Bore Hole upstream to fishing boundary signs at the mouth of boulder Creek. No fishing from the Cedar Road bridge upstream approx 400 m to the white square boundary signs near the Hwy 19 bridge, Sept 15-Oct 30. Fishing can be done all months of the year in the Nanaimo River. It is known to have chinook salmon for all months of the year, and coho salmon at times from September right up until January. Chinook fishing is best done between July and September. Pink salmon are in thick in early September and start to spawn towards the end of September. By the end of September the chum and coho salmon start entering the river, with peak runs of coho coming in mid October with the rains.
