Alberni Inlet springs are present from late June through summer. While fishing for Bluebacks can occur as early as February around the Bamfield area of Barkley Sound , the best time for Coho of size starts in June and is best in late summer and early fall. Sockeye arrive in the area during May and will work their way into Alberni Inlet by late June. July and August can offer some absolutely spectacular salmon fishing in Alberni Inlet and is definitely worth a trip. Halibut, lingcod, and rockfish can also be excellent especially on the outside banks. (See BC Fish Species)
